Bhubaneswar, May 11 (LocalWire): Staff members of a hospital here have been lauded for promptly evacuating 22 newborns from a care unit when its ceiling started to fall in the impact of cyclone Fani.
Two medical officers, seven nurses and two attendants at SNCU (Sick and New Born Care Unit) of the capital hospital have been hailed as heroes.
The attendants on duty covered the babies with warm cloths and immediately time started shifting them to safety as the powerful storm pounded the building.
“We were holding the babies in one hand and the collapsed ceiling on the other. We had to save them at any cost,” said Ramarani Biswal, a staff nurse. This heroic act of selflessness is an inspiration for others and would remain itched in people’s memory in the time to come.
