Paradip, December 18 (LocalWire): Protesting the inaction of the railway police against the killers of an engineering student, the irate villagers of Chunbellari blocked the Cuttack Paradip railway line at Bagadia on Wednesday.
The locals were protesting against the delay in action against the two persons accused of killing the eighteen-year-old girl Subha Laxmi Ojha on 10 November 2019.
The girl, a civil engineering diploma student of Ganapati Engineering College in Cuttack was staying in a rented house at Jagatpur and her body was found by the side of the railway track near Bandhbati gate of Cuttack Paradip railway line.
On receiving the information the Government Railway Police Station (GRPS) officials from Cuttack rushed to the spot and seized the dead body and registered a case in this connection.
Later, the girl’s father Ramesh Ojha had alleged that his daughter was raped and murdered before her body was thrown on the railway track.
He also filed an FIR against one Subhransu Biswal, lover of the victim and her roommate Shantilata Bhoi for killing her.
The State Commission for Women (SCW) chairperson Minati Behera had met the family members of the girl on 13 December and assured them that steps would be taken to get justice for Subha.
Later on that day, GRPS police had arrested the accused Biswal and produced him before the court.
However, the villagers say they are not satisfied with the arrest of only one accused and are demanding that the girl’s roommate Bhoi should also be arrested.
