Berhampur, August 4 (LocalWire): Continuing a crackdown on illegally-run private child care institutes in Kandhamal district, police shut another institute near Phulbani on Saturday.
26 inmates-all minors, including 19 boys and seven girls were rescued from the institute.
‘The rescued children will be handed over to their parents soon,’ said president of the district child welfare committee (CWC) Ashok Kumar Behera.
‘All children,belonging to different areas of Kandhamal district, will be enrolled in schools, located near their residence after taking consent of their parents,’ he said.
‘The owner of the institute failed to show any legal document to run the institute,’ said inspector in charge, Phulbani town police station Jeebananand Jena.
The district administration had closed two illegally-run child-care institutes located at Bramhanigaon and Gadapur area in the district and rescued 71 children, including ten girls and 61 boys from there.
