Bhubaneswar, Sept 24 (LocalWire): Sounding yellow and orange warnings, the Indian Meteorological Department here said there will be heavy to very heavy rainfall in 15 districts of the state in the next 24 hours.
There will be enhanced rainfall over some districts as per the current meteorological update, IMD said in its latest bulletin.
With cyclonic circulation lying over south Andhra Pradesh and extending up to 3.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwards in height, a trough extending up to 0.9 km above mean sea level runs from the above cyclonic circulation to southwest Madhya Pradesh across Vidarbha.
Under the influence of the above cyclonic circulation and strong monsoon current, enhanced rainfall activity is very likely in some districts of Odisha, it said.
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at most places over these districts.
IMD issued orange warning over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Cuttack, Khurda, Puri, Bhadrak and Ganjam.
An orange alert is a moderate warning as per meteorological terminology that asks the authorities of concerned areas to remain prepared for a severe situation.
Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Nayagarh, Keonjhar, Kandhamal, Boudh and Dhenkanal.
