Berhampur, Sept 8 (LocalWire): Police busted an illegal Indian Made Foreign Liquor-manufacturing unit operating inside a poultry farm at Pendurabadi under Ganjam district’s Digapahandi police station limits on Saturday night and confiscated some materials and duplicate products.
Acting on a tip off, police raided the poultry farm and found the liquor manufacturing unit that was started recently.
Four people, including the owner of the poultry farm were arrested and huge quantities of duplicate foreign liquors seized, additional SP (Berhampur), Pravat Chandra Routray, said today.
The arrested have been identified as Hrusikesh Gouda of Bhismagiri, Pradip Sahu of Badangi under Tarsingi police station limits, Tutu Das of Phulasundari Sahi, Berhampur and Dandapani Dakua of Pendurabadi, the owner of the poultry farm.
The main accused who manufactured the liquor, managed to escape, police said, addinf that search was on to arrest him.
As many as 1584 bottles of liquors of different brands, foreign liquor in four cans, 280 litres of spurious spirits, duplicate brand labels in a gunny bag, old empty bottles in ten gunny bags, chemical colour an auto-rickshaw loaded with 10 cartons containing 44 bottles in each carton and 79,200 litres of liquor and several liquor manufacturing materials were seized from the spot, police said.
The seized items will be sent to the regional forensic laboratory, Berhampur, for testing to find out the spuriousness of the brews, police added.
Police have launched a drive to unearth illegal liquor manufacturing units, transportation and unauthorized stocking of liquor, ahead of Dusshera.
Two days ago, Aska police had arrested eight people and seized huge quantities of country-made liquor from different places.
‘We are trying to find out the places that supply these duplicate foreign liquors,’ the ASP said.
