Bhubaneswar, Mar 17 (Local Wire): A total of 1239 persons returning from foreign countries and entering into Odisha recently have registered with the state government on their systems within 24 hours of its announcement.
It comes a day after the government made it mandatory and threatened to take action in case of defiance.
The information was put forth by State Nodal Officer for Coronavirus Subrato Bagchi. He informed that in last 24 hours 1,239 persons have registered their names that includes 554 number through call centers while rests through the website.
The persons who got registered after their foreign trips also include Puri Gajapati Maharaj and his wife besides IAS officer Vineel Krishan.
Seeing more than 10,000 calls on the helpline number, the state government now plans to expand the service so that more number of people can reach out easily.
Bagchi said, “Odisha government has taken a policy decision to substantially activate and more expansion of 104 Help Line that has received more than 10,000 calls within last 24 hours and thus Krishan Kumar, Secretary, Works has been assigned to lead the initiative,”
The government, on the other hand, informed the media that till date the health department has collected 32 samples out of which 31 samples have been found negative. “One person with COVID-19 positive has been under treatment and confirmed stable.
Persons coming in contact with the man have already been advised home-isolation,” the statement from the government said on Tuesday.
The government claimed that a total of 540 isolation beds are ready in the state. It also said that malls will remain open for the public.
Bagchi said, “The Malls providing the supply of essential commodities like food, grocery and medicine will remain open, but unnecessary frequent visit by the public to be avoided, it has been advised,”
It has also been decided that all the Banks have been instructed to maintain social distancing, cleaning, sanitization of ATMs and other measures.
