Bhubaneswar, Oct 1 (LocalWire): On the occasion of the International Day for Older Persons 2020, a webinar named “Empowering Elders: Building an Age Friendly and Caring Society” was organised by Help Age India.
As many as 700 people residing in 30 old age homes in Odisha joined the webinar.
Elderly people got the chance to connect through a virtual platform for the first time through this webinar, Help Age India claimed.
While the State Program Officer of Help Age Ranjay K Das moderated the sessions, Sabyasachi Mishra (social worker and actor) spoke on the occasion.
Director SSEPD, Govt. of Odisha, Ms. Bratati Harichandan, elaborated on the various efforts taken by Govt. for the care of the elderly in the state.
Ms. Bharati Chakra, State Head – Odisha, HelpAge India, mentioned the pledge movement launched by HelpAge India today and urged people from all walks of life to take care of elderly by taking an online pledge (on Help Age’s website).
Ms. Namrata Chadha, Social Activist, emphasized on the fact that senior citizens living in different contexts are facing the situation of pandemic differently and every situation needs to be treated differently.
Mr. Madhusudan Das, NSS Youth Advisor to Higher Education Dept., Govt. of Odisha urged all to love, listen, talk, share and take care of the elderly around them.
