Paradip, October 5 (Local Wire) Indian Coast Guard formally inducted a new offshore patrol vessel named Vijay in its fleet on Thursday at an event attended by defense secretary Sanjay Mitra and ICG director general Rajendra Singh.
ICGS Vijay has the state of art communication and navigational equipment.
It is also the second of its class of offshore patrol vessel having a length of 98 meters with a gross registered tonnage capacity of 2100 tonnes.
The ship is propelled by 9000 kw diesel engines that can attain a maximum speed of 26 knots and has an endurance of 5000 NM at economic speed.
The vessel was designed in-house and built by Chennai-based L&T Shipbuilding at its Kattupalli yard, located north of Ennore Port,
