Berhampur, January 11 (Localwire): Over 2,983 Indian Navy and Coast Guard sailors completed their 21-week basic training at the INS Chilka on Saturday.
The day was marked by an impressive passing out parade of the trainees in the premises of the INS Chilka that was reviewed by Eastern Naval Command commander-in-chief and Vice Admiral AK Chawla, who also presented the medals and trophies to the meritorious trainees on the occasion.
Vice Admiral Chawla exhorted the passing out sailors to hone their skills further and develop a high degree of professionalism, a strong foundation of knowledge, willingness to learn and commitment to excel in their respective careers.
The passing out ceremony was attended by parents and family members of the trainees from across the country.
After completing their training, they will be joining the professional schools at Mumbai and Cochin, while some of them will go for ship orientation depending on the vacancies, sources said.
