Bhubaneswar, October 5 (LocalWire): A week-long Swachhta as Service campaign at Indian Naval Ship (INS) Chilka concluded on 2 October, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
The campaign that commenced on 26 September was joined by naval personnel and their families, Defence Civilians, DSC, NCC, trainees, and students of KV Chilka.
Several activities including mass shramdaan and tree plantation and lectures on creating awareness about the clean environment were organised during the period.
The students of KV Chilka took swachhata pledge and performed a street play on ‘Say no to plastics’.
The campaign culminated with a mass tree plantation drive of where 900 saplings were planted on 2 October.
“The drive was successful in instilling and promoting social community responsibility towards ensuring a cleaner and greener environment,” a statement issued by INS Chilka said.
