Bhubaneswar, Oct 27 (LocalWire) Police today busted an inter-state bike lifters racket by arresting four alleged key members of the well-knit gang.
During a raid, five two-wheelers were seized from their possession, police said.
The racketeers used to lift the bikes from various parts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack and Khorda districts and the stolen vehicles at low price through a network of middlemen.
The gang members had confessed to have stolen more than 50 motorcycles in past two months, they said adding efforts are on to recover the rest motorcycles stolen by them.
Their modus-operandi was simple.
The gang used to keep close watch on the movement of the owners before breaking open the lock with master key and fleeing with the motor bike. The owners who are found to be in a hurried state of mind at the parking lots were mostly becoming their soft targets, police said.
The receivers of stolen bikes would also be booked for abetting the crime, they said adding the peration against motorbike theft has been intensified.
