Paradip July 16 (LocalWire): Nearly 2000 contract workers demonstrated and squatted on mass dharna in front of Paradip Refinery, IOCL today demanding a hike in their salaries. They also protested the contract agencies that were not following norms.
Contract workers of Paradip Refinery under the banner ‘Paradeep Erasama Industrial Workers Union’ demanded pay according to the new settlement.
Contract agencies are not paying the new salary they alleged and retrenched workers if they demanded their dues.
The contract workers also protested against salary not being disbursed on time.
They said agencies were giving jobs to youths from outside the state and depriving the locals.
The agencies were also not depositing PF and ESI on time.
Despite frequent reminders, IOCL authorities are not taking any stand.
