Berhampur, August 14 (LocalWire): Braving all odds due to the lockdown imposed by the government to contain the spread of coronavirus, at least 60 students, including 17 girls of the government-run Industrial Training Institute (ITI) have secured employment at a Germany-based oil shield company’s Chennai unit.
The students secured jobs through digital campus placement.
Submission of application, interview with the candidates – all forms of selection were done online.
Ganjam district administration has allowed the selected candidates to go to Chennai to join their work place by arranging buses.“All of the selected students have reported to join at their respective work places,” said principal, ITI Berhampur Rajat Kumar Panigrahy.
The digital platform for the campus selection was developed by the ITI to help the students appear in the interview while sitting in their homes.
In the first year of the training period, each of the students will get around Rs 14,000 per month with several other facilities like accommodation, subsidized food and other facilities, sources said Initially my parents were not interested in allowing me to go out of the state when the Covid-19 cases in the country, especially in Tamil Nadu, were in an increasing trend.However, I convinced them that it was an opportunity, which would not come back again,” said Kalpana Parida of Kanheipur in Ganjam district’s Khallikote block.

From leaving the campus to joining the duty, we have followed all the Covid-19 regulations, instructed by the institution, district administration and above all the company, said Didi Sethy of Badakushasthali, near Berhampur, who passed in the trade of electrician. Around 400 students and ex-students of the institutes have been getting jobs in different companies across the country through the campus selection held via the digital platform developed by the institute, said the principal.“We are playing the role of coordinator between the candidates and companies in the online mode of recruitment,” said Panigrahy.
