Balasore, Dec 7 (LocalWire) As part of observance of Swachhta Pakhwada (December 1 to 15) by Integrated Test Range (ITR), an unit of DRDO, near here a cleanliness and health awareness drive was undertaken at Chandipur and here.
Teams belonging to different wings of ITR carried out the drive at different places and collected the waste material littered on roadsides including non-biogradable plastics and properly disposed them off.
Earlier in the week, ITR teams had also undertaken a similar drive at Chandipur beach area and cleaned nearby tourist spots including Panthanivas premises and Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam memorial.
In course of their campaign, the officers and staff of ITR also cleaned four school premises in Chandipur region.
“We interacted with the school children and educated them about the importance of swachhta and maintaining hygiene .
Many other activities including public awareness camps, workshops on cleanliness and environment protection activities have been planned by team ITR in the forthcoming days of the Swachhta Pakhwada,” said director ITR, Binay Kumar Das.
Besides Swachhta activities, ITR had also launched a campaign to spread awareness among the citizens about diabetes.
After completing the cleaning operation on Saturday, the ITR team marched on the road carrying posters and banners displaying information about the disease.
A special diabetes awareness camp was organised in which blood samples were collected from as many 204 persons and clinical advice given.
A special interactive session on practicing yoga for diabetic patients was also organised during the camp.
