Jagatsinghpur, Feb 14 (LocalWire) The process of land acquisition for the proposed National Highway 55 in Jagatsinghpur district will start in April 2020, district collector Sangram K Mohapatra said on Friday.
The administration has directed the concerned departments to vacate the encroachments from Cuttack- Nuagaon Road by 5th March 2020.
The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has issued a notification under section 3 of the National Highways Act, 1956, for the expansion of the NH-55 from 264.161 to 357.784 km near Sambalpur connecting Redhakhol-Anugul-Banrpal- Dhenkanal-Cuttack-Jagatsinghpur terminating at Nuagaon.
Except for Kujang, land acquisition for the proposed highway will begin in all seven tahsils of the district, he told LocalWire.
He said that the width of the highway would be 20 meters & the by-pass road will be 30 meters.
Nearly 200 structures will be cleared and compensation will be provided to those affected.
Besides this, Mohapatra also said that the administration has acquired the land for the establishment of Mother-Child Health (MCH) Care Unit in district headquarters hospital, for which a fund of Rs 17. 80 Crores was allocated.
