Berhampur, Sept 2 (LocalWire): A JEE candidate who tested positive for COVID-19 was disallowed to appear for the examination at Roland Institute center here on Wednesday, on the second day of the ongoing main examination for admission in engineering.
The National Testing Agency (NTA), the agency conducting the JEE, however, assured the candidate to reschedule the examination for him so as to allow him to appear the same examination after being cured, said the sub-collector of Berhampur, who is also the nodal officer in the district for the smooth conduct of JEE Main.
A written document was given to the candidate in this regard by the in-charge of the center after consulting with the higher authorities of the NTA.
He said that as per the request of the parents of the candidate the district administration has arranged an ambulance for him after consulting with the center in-charge.
Earlier the in-charge had assured them that the candidate would be allowed to sit in isolation to appear the examination.
As per the pre-arrangement, the candidate arrived at the examination center at 8 am. But the center in-charge disallowed him saying the testing agency had denied permission for COVID-19 positive students to appear for the crucial examination.
He however gave a written document of the NTA for rescheduling the examination for him. The candidate accepted the document without any protest.
