Bhubaneswar, April 16 (LocalWire): The Crime Branch claimed to have cracked the murder of Manguli Jena in Khordha town, within a few hours of taking over the case and claimed that the murder was due to the fallout of past enmity and not due to political rivalry.
Police said the accused hailed from the same village and hatched the plot.
On Sunday midnight, miscreants gunned down Jena, the BJP Khordha zone president, outside the party’s Khordha Assembly segment candidate, Kalu Khandayatray’s house.
Jena, who was about to climb into his four-wheeler after meeting Khandayatray, was shot dead by two bike-borne men. He was declared brought dead by doctors of a nearby hospital.
The incident, however, has snowballed into a political controversy with the BJP accusing the BJD of the murder.
Chief minister Naveen Patnaik has also condemned the incident and has demanded stringent action aginst the culprits.
