Koraput, May 6 (LocalWire): Jeypore residents are disgruntled with the unscheduled power cuts by the Southern Electricity Supply Company of Odisha Limited, making people’s lives miserable in the scorching heat.
Many parts of the town and its peripheral areas are experiencing erratic power outages from 15 minutes to three hours daily.
Locals say despite paying regularly, the area is witnessing power cuts.
‘There is frequent power cut in the town. In a day there power is switched off at least three to four times.
You don’t know when power supply will be snapped and you will be left in the lurch,’ said Manoj Sharma, a trader residing in Parabeda in the town.
‘Frequent unscheduled outages not only creates problem after dusk but also hampers business establishments,’ he added.
‘There is no official announcement of power cuts and the officials snap the supply arbitrarily without issuing a prior notice,’ said Suresh Das, a senior citizen.
‘If also we lodge a complaint, it is of no use. The consumers should be compensated against erratic power supply,’ he added.
Executive engineer (Southco), Priyadarshi Behera, said in some areas there are power cuts due to shifting of high tension (HT) lines.
‘The areas where the HT lines are being shifted, those areas are facing power cut. Soon normalcy will be restored,’ said Behera.
