Kendrapara, November 7 (LocalWire): In yet another incident of attack on the media in Odisha, BJD’s Kendrapara MP Anubhav Mohanty allegedly abused a journalist of a private TV channel.
According to the FIR filed by the journalist Manoj Swain on Wednesday, the actor-turned Member of Parliament Mohanty had abused him on Tuesday when he was trying to interview him in the office of Kendrapara collector.
Mohanty, who was elected to the Lok Sabha from Kendrapara after defeating BJP national vice-president Baijayant Panda has denied the allegation.
When contacted, Kendrapara town police station inspector-in-charge Ranjan Samantray said that they were still investigating the case.
This is the second time that Mohanty has been accused by a journalist of abuse.
Earlier in June this year, a 29-year-old woman journalist had filed an FIR at Purighat police station alleging that that Mohanty had misbehaved with her.
Meanwhile, journalists in Kendrapara held a protest march against the attack on media person and raised slogans against Mohanty in front of the office of the collector on Wednesday, demanding that the culprit should be brought to book.
A delegation of journalists also met the Kendrapara collector Samrath Verma and sought an inquiry into the incident and demanded strict action against Mohanty.
