Bhubaneswar, July 26 (LocalWire): After eight years of trials and tribulation, ‘elusive’ justice has dawned upon a 25-year-old woman whose mother was brutally murdered in Sambalpur.
Jayashree Mishra was missing under mysterious circumstances since 2011.
Police had lodged a missing report and had closed the case as unsolved.
Her daughter Bijayani Mishra, however, had thought otherwise and firmly believed that her mother was murdered.
After running from pillar to post, Bijayani’s persistent prayers paid positive dividends with police arresting the assailant.
Based on Bijayini’s version, we arrested the suspect Basant Panda and after sustained interrogation, he spilled the beans, said SDPO, Bhabani Shankar Udgata.
Panda had throttled the woman to death and later buried the body at a deserted place near her house.
The skeletal remains including the skull of the deceased were exhumed today, he said.
The assailant is being further quizzed to ascertain the exact motive of the crime and suspected involvement of others in the crime.
