Cuttack, November 3 (LocalWire): Orissa High Court chief justice J S Javeri led the cycle rally organised by the Cuttack district administration under Mo Cycle campaign here on Sunday.
The cycle rally that was attended by hundreds of enthusiasts, including bureaucrats, sportspersons, school and college students, underscored the need for clean and pollution-free environment for healthy life.
Stressing on the use of cycles, Justice Javeri said that its use doesn’t add to the environmental problem like all other vehicles do.
“Rather it helps save the nature and human health as well,” he stated.
The Mo Cycle rally was organised by the district administration in association with the Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) and Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation which provided the cycles for the event.
Meanwhile, the Cuttack district administration has decided to extensively use cycle-rickshaws during the upcoming Baliyatra this month to ferry the visitors to the fair.
This is being done to curb vehicular pollution in the annual festival at the sprawling Baliyatra ground and also to create awareness about the advantage of cycle-based transport system in the city, a senior district official said.
Over 200 cycle rickshaw pullers have been provided identical tea shirts and banners with “Mo Cuttack Baliyatra Rickshaw” written over it.
