Bhawanipatna, August 20 (LocalWire): Children of a nodal primary school in far-flung Maichala village in Junagarh block of Kalahandi district were in for a pleasant surprise today with the District Collector turning up at their classroom to teach.
Parag Harshad Gavali, the Collector, who was inspecting the local block office decided to assess the academic standard of the primary school students.
‘I taught basic mathematics like addition, subtraction, multiplication to the class III students. The standard is by and large good but there is ample room for improvement. I told the teachers to focus on academically poor students. I was nostalgic as I took upon the classroom teaching,’ he said.
The state government has launched ‘Mo (my) School’ campaign. Under the scheme, qualified people are welcome to teach students to bring about qualitative change in classroom teaching.
The administration has resolved to improve the government-run primary education network, Gavali said.
