Berhampur, Nov 20 (LocalWire): While Kandhamal Collector Brundha D has stepped into the role of a teacher and taught students of a primary school in a remote village in the district, Gajapati SP Sarah Sharma spread the fitness mantra to people of Paralakhemundi by taking aerobic-Zumba dance class on Tuesday.
In a surprise visit, Kandhamal Collector entered Prime School at Pipali in Duduki panchayat, a remote village near Katringia.
She questioned students of Class V on Mathematics and English and taught them for about an hour.
She also gifted chocolates to the students who gave correct answers.
‘Several students gave correct and prompt answers,’ she said.
During her visit to the school, she also tested the quality of the mid-day meals and the condition of the toilets.
She also asked the headmaster to ensure regular cleaning of toilets in the school.
The Collector also spoke to parents and children of the anganwadi centre at Ukhusuganda under Bisipada panchayat.
In Gajapati district, the SP launched Mission Fitness, where Sharma trained the people about fitness through Zumba classes.
She worked out for about an hour by mixing aerobic and Zumba steps, the two popular modern dances among the youth. ‘I have trained in contemporary modern dances. It was easy for me to work out on these,’ she said.
People from all walks and different age groups participated in the class held at Gajapati stadium which went on for an hour.
The main aim of the programme was to help people go through physical exercise, she said.
She said they planned to train people, irrespective of their age and sex, about different fitness mantras like yoga, trekking in the Mission Fitness initiative held every Tuesday of the week.
