Berhampur, Jan 26 (LocalWire) With a two-year-old boy succumbing his injuries at MKCG Medical College and Hospital here on Friday, the death toll in the major road mishap near Bramhanigaon in Kandhamal district rose to 11.
Akabar Badaseth, along with 38 others, sustained injuries in the accident and was admitted at the medical college on Tuesday.
“His condition was very serious and was kept on ventilation,” said medical college superintendent Charana Panda.
His mother is also critical.
At least six people died on the spot, when an overcrowded mini-truck carrying passengers, skidded off the road and fell down 30-feet near Bramhanigaon. At least four others succumbed on the way to the medical college.
They were going to Bramhanigaon to attend a function at the church.
Eight of the injured were referred to the SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack and All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar after their condition deteriorated.
