Bhubaneswar, December 7 (LocalWire): The crime branch wing of the state police has asked the district police heads to keep a tab on habitual offenders who are on bail to thwart any possibility of future offence by them.
The superintendents of police at the district level and deputy commissioners of police in Cuttack-Bhubaneswar commissionerate of police need to keep a constant vigil on habitual lawbreakers out on bail, a circular issued by the crime branch’s additional director general of police Santosh Upadhyay stated.
“If they (habitual offenders) are found indulging in crime, unleashing terror and breach after being bailed out, the SPs and DCPs ought to take up the matter with public prosecutors to move the court for cancellation of their bail applications,” the order stated.
The police need to keep a constant vigil on habitual offenders to ascertain that they do not breach the precondition that the court imposes during granting bail, the circular stated.
It’s pertinent to note here that two offenders had set a rape survivor on fire yesterday in Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao after being bailed out by the court.
