Kendrapara, March 11(LocalWire): A 5km-long procession of bikes accompanied Baijayant ‘Jay’Panda on Monday during his first visit to his erstwhile constituency after joining the BJP last week. Exuberant locals stopped his convoy often to garland and greet him.
Panda was a BJD Rajya Sabha member from 2000 to 2006 and again from 2006 to 2009.
Later, he was elected to the Lok Sabha from Kendrapara Parliamentary constituency twice as a BJD candidate in 2009 and 2014.
He was suspended from BJD in January last year and he resigned from the party and the Lok Sabha seat in June.
Addressing his supporters at Ichapur, Panda said, ‘Law and order has completely collapsed in the state under the BJD government.
Crime against women and children has increased.
Many ruling party leaders and senior officers are indulging in rampant corruption.
Earlier, BJD was an ally of the BJP but it snapped all ties and started opposing the good policies of the NDA government.
Modiji is taking the country in the right direction and will form the government at the Centre and the state as well.’
He termed Biju Yuva Bahini as Biju Goonda Bahani and said miscreants were trying to stop development projects in Kendrapara.
He said he was attacked when he had gone to Mahanga to inaugurate a water tank. He said he has already built 57 water tanks with a capacity of one lakh litre each will solve water scarcity problem in the constituency.
BJP sources are enthusiastic and hopeful of a Panda win to make a hat-trick from the Kendrapara Lok Sabha seat.
