Bhubaneswar, May 21 (LocalWire): The KIIT University here has been selected for the Boeing University Innovation Leadership Development (BUILD) programme to encourage startups, students and faculty members for innovative ideas in the field of aerospace and defence.
“The aim behind ‘Build’ is to help creative minds and innovators to convert their raw ideas into assets for the Indian aerospace and defence sectors,” KITT said in a statement.
KIIT is among six other Indian institutions selected for the Boeing India innovation programme.
Besides KIIT, Boeing has partnered with incubators like IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, IIT Delhi, IIT Gandhinagar, IISc Banglore and T-Hub Hyderabad.
The domains in which students can submit their ideas include: aerospeace, internet of things, machine learning, autonomous vehicles, artificial intelligence, augmented and virtual reality.
The participants can submit their ideas by June 10.
The qualifying teams from these institutes will go through a regional-level competition. The finalists will present their ideas to a panel of experts on Boeing Innovation Day to be held in September 2019.
The winners will bag cash prizes and a chance to interact with Boeing experts.
Currently, Being India employs 3,000 people in India and many alumnus of KIIT University also work in the company.
Boeing had earlier organised programs like Horizon X Innovation Challenge and Accelerated Aircraft Maintenance Engineers Apprenticeship as part of its contribution to the Indian aerospace sector.
