Berhampur, July 5 (LocalWire): Police arrested two people, including a Plus III (First Year) student on Thursday in connection with the murder of a demonstrator of a private college in Ganjam district, a week ago.
Janardana Nayak alias Dana of Madhurachua village and Dipak Nayak of H Burudi have been arrested for beating to death Ashiwni Kumar Mishra, the demonstrator of Sri Jagannath College, Rambha, last Saturday night, said sub-divisional police officer, Chhatrapur, Utkal Keshari Das.
Two motorbikes used during the crime and two mobile phones of the deceased were seized from the accused, he said.
Police said search was on for two other people suspected to be involved in the murder. ‘We have identified them and they will be arrested soon,’ the SDPO said.
Allegedly, Mishra was having an affair with Dana’s lover.
Dana decided to kill Mishra and hired three people, including 18-year-old Dipak for Rs 50,000.
According to the plan he hatched, Mishra, who lived alone in Kushadipa village under Khallikote police station, was invited to a dhaba.
As pre-planned, the hired killers stopped the victim near Biruligada and beat him to death with bamboos and stones.
They left the body on the road and fled. Police recovered the body the next day after some passersby informed them and sent the body for post-mortem.
