Bhubaneswar, August 9 (LocalWire): International Day of the world’s indigenous people was observed at KISS today.
On this occasion, Secretary, KIIT & KISS R N Dash, VC, KISS Deemed to be University, Prof Harekrushna Satapathy, Pro-VC, Nihar Ranjan Patnaik, CEO, KISS, Dr P K Routray, COO Surjyakanta Mohanty and Director, KISS, Dr. PK Das were present and spoke on the Indigenous people’s rights and culture.
KISS has created a conducive environment for each and every student to enjoy the right to their language, culture and traditions, right to protect themselves against the loss of identity and right to be allowed to thrive as dynamic living creatures, they opined.
They urged the students to revitalize, preserve and promote indigenous culture, tradition and languages.
9 August is celebrated globally as the International day of the world’s indigenous people.
This year’s observance is marked as the International year of indigenous languages as indigenous peoples’ languages are one of the concerns among others that stands threatened.
