Koraput, March 11 (LocalWire): Koraput police have solved a murder case of a retired sub-inspector and his wife in less than 24 hours, with the arrest of their son and prime accused.
The deceased couple’s son Latifur Rehman (38) was a prime accused in the case.
Police had recovered the bodies of M.K. Rehman (88) and his wife Hafija Bibi (78) around 8 am on Saturday from their house in Jaynagar area of Jaypore town, the district headquarters.
Their bodies were found lying in a pool of blood.
Inspector Baleswar Gidhi said, “Latifur confessed to the crime during interrogation. The father-son duo had a land dispute.”
“His father wanted to sell a plot, while he was against it. Around 5 am on Saturday, they had a heated argument, and in a fit of rage, he attacked his father with an iron rod. When his mother tried to stop him, she too was not spared,” said SDPO (Jeypore) Sagarika Nath.
“Latifur then fled from the spot with some gold ornaments and Rs.15,000 in cash, and returned home around 8 am. He tried to mislead us by calling it a robbery,” she added.
Police, though, said it will file a charge-sheet in next 10 days.
