Paradip, Feb 1 (LocalWire) Land losers and displaced families under the banner of Jamihara Krushak Manch squatted on mass dharna in front of Paradip Refinery of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) for fulfilling their longstanding demand for permanent employment.
The protest came ahead of the inauguration of Poly Propylene plant of IOCL on Feb 6 by Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan.
Sources said the compensation and rehabilitation packages meant for land givers have not been properly implemented by IOCL.
Several times, they have resorted to agitation in front of the refinery plant site and held meetings with IOCL authorities pressing for jobs, but nothing has yet been fulfilled, said sources.
Earlier, Manch president Navin Pradhan and others intensified stir and hunger strike for demanding permanent job opportunity to local people.
Even, they had sought the intervention of Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik, union petroleum and natural gas minister Dharmendra Pradhan, chairman of ICOL and other higher authorities, no step has been taken to fulfill their demands, rued the villagers.
