Jagatsinghpur, August 13 (LocalWire): Advocates under the banner of District Bar Association have decided to abstain from court today and tomorrow to protest the delay in shifting all courts to the new zilla court building.
Since courts are functioning from different areas of Jagatsinghpur district, after the creation of a new district in 1993, there was no zilla court building and local lawyers faced a lot of difficulties in attending court.
Some courts functioned from dilapidated old buildings while other courts functioned from the collecotrate buildings, two kms away from these courts.
The state government started the construction of a multi-storeyed zilla court building at Charichika bazaar but since it has not been completed even after two years, shifting all courts to the building has been delayed.
Protesting it, hundreds of lawyers led by the president of the district bar association, Subrat Satpathy, demonstrated and abstained from court proceedings.
