Paradip, December 13 (LocalWire): Locals from village Gobindpur on Thursday detained JSW employees and seized a huge quantity of school bags that the company was transporting for distribution among the local school children.
The villagers seized the bags alleging that the Jindal Group planned to distribute it to generate public support for the proposed 52 MTPA steel project of JSW Utkal Steel Limited on Posco land in Paradip.
The JSW employees were later rescued by the local police that rushed to the spot after getting information about their detention by the villagers.
It may be recalled that the Odisha State Pollution Control Board has fixed 20 December 2019 as the date for conducting a public hearing to obtain environmental clearance from the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change for its proposed steel plant in Paradip.
The company will be holding the environmental public hearing at Gadakujang Jagannath temple.
Meanwhile, the employees of JSW group have started counseling different sections of people including industry leaders, unemployed youth groups, members of puja committees and clubs, betel vine labourers, land losers, village leaders and others to seek their cooperation for smooth conduct of a public hearing in support of the steel plant.
