Bhubaneswar, July 16 (LocalWire): The state government today announced imposing lockdown in four districts of Odisha and one municipal limit in light of the spread of Coronavirus.
Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy today held a press conference and announced the move.
The official said that the decision was taken as per the ICMR, WHO and state health department protocols to curtail the disease in these regions reporting more cases of the disease.
“The State Government does hereby impose lockdown in the entire jurisdictions of Khurda, Ganjam, Cuttack and Jajpur districts and Rourkela Municipal Corporation (Sundergarh district) from 9 pm of July 17 until midnight of July 31,” the lockdown notification said.
The government during this lockdown ordered closure of all shops and commercial establishments, offices and institutions and restricted the movement of people during the period except for emergency work and workers.
The norms claimed that selected central and state government offices, police, press, hospitals and other emergency workers will be allowed to work during the period but others will be barred for this.
The government meanwhile has allowed grocery shops, vegetable shops to operate only between 6am to 1pm.
It has meanwhile allowed home delivery of essential products and even allowed delivery of products from e-commerce sites.
The government has meanwhile also allowed agriculture, factories, industries, IT sector, telecom sector and others to operate during this period but with least population.
