Berhampur, August 17 (LocalWire): The Lokayukta has received several complaints against public servants since it started functioning in March and 190 complaints have been disposed of.
There are as many as 108 complaints pending before the Board of Lokayukta for disposal, said the chairperson of the state Lokayukta, Ajit Singh here today.
Most of the complaints pending before the Lokayukta are petty and they have not received any complaints on corruption charges against high profile officers or law makers at present.
‘We hope the complaints will be multiple and receive corruption charges of the high-profile people in future,’ Singh told media persons.
The complainants have been asked to lodge their complaints on plain paper since the special format is not yet ready.
If sent by post, c omplaints will be entertained after primary inquiry, he said.
Singh asked the people to speak out against public servants, even high profile officers, ministers or law makers and lodge their complaints before the Lokayukta.
‘Lokayukta has been formed to eliminate corruption and to make Odisha a corruption-free state,’ he added.
Other members of the Lokayukta institutions, including BK Nayak, member (judicial) and RP Sharma were presented during the press conference.
On receiving the complaint, the Lokayukta may order a preliminary inquiry by its inquiry wing or any agency to ascertain whether there exists a prima facie case for proceeding in the matter, said Nayak.
The inquiry wing will need to submit its report to Lokaykta within 60 days.
Since the Lokayukta does not have an investigation wing at present, they entrust it to other agencies,’ he said.
Sharma said the Lokayukta was going to develop its own portal soon and the complainants then can lodge their complaints online.
