Bhubaneswar, Nov 1 (LocalWire) A low pressure area is likely to form over the North Andaman Sea on Sunday and could intensify into a cyclonic system, the Centre for Environment and Climate (CEC), SOA Deemed to be University, said here on Friday.
The intensity of the system and time and place of crossing the east coast was yet to be confirmed, Dr. S.C.Sahu, Director of CEC, said.
The system’s movement and intensification would be understood with some clarity after ‘Maha’, the very severe cyclonic storm (VSCS) over the Arabian Sea, crossed the Gujarat coast and weakened on the night of November 6, he said.
‘Maha’, presently a severe cyclonic storm, was expected to intensify further into a very severe cyclonic storm and move in a west-north-westerly direction up to November 5 and then recurve north-eastwards towards the Gujarat coast in the evening or night of November 6.
It would weaken thereafter and continue to move northeast wards towards central India, Dr. Sahu said.
