Bhubaneswar, May 20 (Local Wire): The state health department on Wednesday said that it has seen rise of 74 new cases of Coronavirus in the state in their latest testing of samples.
The State Health Department meanwhile also said that it has also witnessed one more death of an elder patient from Khurda district.
With the new additions the state has now a total of 1052 Coronavirus cases and six deaths due to the disease.
“Sorry to inform that one 70-year-old patient of Khurda district having history of co-morbidity of hypertension was admitted to AIIMS, Bhubaneswar Emergency today with respiratory distress and passed away the same day,” the department said in a statement.
Malkangiri on the other side reported Coronavirus cases for the first time. It reported two cases of the viral disease for the first time.
The department said that out of the 74 new cases, 72 of them are from quarantine centres and two are local contacts.
The highest cases were reorted from Boudh which reported 28 new cases.
It was followed by Puri which reported 11 new cases.
Nine other districts which reported new cases included-Cuttack (9 cases0, khurda (7 cases), Ganjam (6), Jajpur (6), Kendrapara (2), Balasore (1), Dhenkanal (1) and Kandhamal (1).
