Puri, March 31 (LocalWire): The railway police on Sunday arrested a man wanted in connection with a train arson case at the Puri railway station last week.
Ashok Pradhan, 27, has been booked for the attack on March 27, a GRP official said, adding, Pradhan used to smoke marijuana in vacant trains parked at the station.
Pradhan confessed to the crime after his arrest with the help of CCTV footage, the official said.
“He is involved in a number of petty thefts from trains and platform. He admitted to igniting fire while smoking in the train. He was produced in a local court today,” he added.
Fire had engulfed three coaches of Puri-Hatia Tapaswini Express while it was stationed at the platform. There was no casualty as the coaches were vacant.
Local residents alleged that the Puri station has turned in to a safe-haven for various substance addicts. They have demanded the railway authorities to restrict free entry.
