Bhubaneswar, April 17 (LocalWire): Police last night arrested a history sheeter from Bhubaneswar railway station for smuggling arms and seized four firearms from his possession.
Police said the accused procured the arms from Munger in Bihar.
Deputy commissioner of police, Anup Kumar Sahoo said the accused was arrested after he reached the station in Howrah-Chennai Express,’We found two .765mm loaded pistols, one 9mm pistol and one single shot pistol from his possession. We are interrogating further.’
Police said Sangram Natha is an arms dealer who has direct contact with dealers in Munger. ‘He procures firearms at a cost of Rs 15,000 and sell those to criminals in Puri, Khordha and Nhubaneswar for Rs 30000-Rs 35000. We are also trying to find out who purchased firearms from the accused,’ said a police official.
Saheed Nagar police had arrested Natha in 2012 and had found six country-made pistols along with nine bullets from his possession. Natha also spent 10 years in jail after being convicted in a narcotics case.
