Kendrapara, Oct 31 (LocalWire): The additional district session judge of Kendrapara has sentenced a 43-year-old man for seven years imprisonment today for raping a 13-year-old girl four years back at a village under Kendrapara Sadar police station.
The court also slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 on the man for committing the offence, failure of which would result in his sentence being increased by another three months.
Pronouncing the verdict in the sensational case, the additional district session judge M R Dora convicted Dibakar Nayak of Chanchnia under Sections 376 (rape) of Indian Penal Code and Section 4 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offence Act (POCSO), 2012 on the charges of raping a minor on 23 October 2015 while the victim was going to her village.
The convict had dragged her to an isolated place and sexually assaulted her. The mother of the victim had filed an FIR against the accused and after investigating the case, police arrested Nayak on charges of raping the minor.
The victim and 13 witnesses deposed in the court. After listening to the evidences of the victim and relying on the medical report, the court convicted the accused, said Sanjay Jena the additional public prosecutor of the court.
