Berhampur, Dec 17 (LocalWire): A man allegedly committed suicide after killing his wife at Bagada village in Digapahandi area of Ganjam district, police said on Monday.
Police suspects family feud behind the incident.
The deceased have been identified as Bankia Sethi and his wife Nayani Sethi.
According to locals, the couple was residing at a rented house in the village and having frequent quarrels.
A fight ensued between the duo on Monday morning and in a fit of rage Banki allegedly slit Nayani’s throat with a sharp weapon, locals told police.
Her screams led neighbours rush and rescue her. She was taken to Digapahandi hospital in a critical condition.
Later, while being shifted to Maharaja Krushna Chandra Gajapati (MKCG) Medical College and Hospital, she succumbed on the way.
Villagers sent Nayani’s body to her paternal village.
Meanwhile, Banki allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in the house, police said.
The couple left behind a one-and-a-half year old child.
Investigations are underway to ascertain more details in the case, police said.
