Bhubaneswar, May 21 (LocalWire): Odisha Rural Development and Marketing Society along with Odisha Livelihoods Mission under the panchayati raj and drinking water department is organizing an exhibition-cum-sale of mangoes from 1-5 June in the State Institute of Rural Development campus near CRP Square here.
The ‘State Level Mango Festival-2019’ is designed to create a platform for tasting and buying garden fresh mangoes devoid of any chemicals.
The festival will help both the farmers and the buyers.
Prices will be low compared to the market since there is no intermediary of wholesale buyers involved and farmers also won’t have to sell at a lower price and lose out on profit.
ORMAS prepared a blueprint of the event after additional chief executive officer, Swayamprabha Mohanty and deputy director (Marketing) Sujoy Kar met district level officials, representatives of producers’ companies and groups of eight major mango-producing districts of Angul, Rayagada, Mayurbhanj, Sambalpur, Bolangir, Koraput, Dhenkanal and Gajapati.
Different stalls have been planned to display different varieties of locally-produced mangoes such as Amrapali, Daseri, Mallika, Lengada, Baiganpali, Himasagar, Totapuri, Sundari collected directly from the farmers or producers for exhibition and sale to consumers.
Mohanty said the main objective of the festival would be to make available varieties of locally-produced, fresh, hand-picked mangoes free from chemicals directly from the farmers to the consumers.
