Berhampur, May 30 (Localwire): Maoist leader Sabyasachi Panda, who was accused of a bomb attack on a telephone exchange some 13 years ago, was acquitted in the case by a court on Thursday.
Sessions judge of Gajapati district Biswajit Das has acquitted him in the March 25, 2006 case.
His lawyer Deepak Patnaik said the court let him off the hook due to lack of evidence.
R. Udayagiri police had accused him of masterminding the blast at the exchange.
So far, Panda has been acquitted in 52 of the 134 cases, Patnaik said.
Cases were registered against Panda in Ganjam, Gajapati, Kamdhamal, Rayagada and Nayagarh districts.
On May 18, Panda was sentenced to life by the court on charges of waging war against the country.
He was arrested from a residential area in Bada Bazara on July 18, 2014. Since then, he had been lodged at the circle jail here.
