Berhampur, May 14 (LocalWire): CPI (Maoist)’s KKBN (Kalahandi Kandhamal Boudh and Nayagarh) division called a bandh on Wednesday to pay tribute to the ultras killed by security forces near Sudrukumpa in Kandhamal district on 13 May last year.
At least five Maoists, including two women cadres died.
The banned organisation put up posters near Sundra and also blocked roads on Tuesday.
Suspected Maoists blocked the road near Sudraghat and Karubhata under Baliguda police station limits by laying logs and put up posters in support of their appeals and demands.
The posters also appealed to the people to join the Maoist organisation.
The ultras opposed the police camp at Khamanakhola which they alleged was posted without the consent of the people and also sought proper wages for labourers who are hired to cut bamboo in the area.
The rebel organisation also demanded provision of umbrella, cap, slippers and medicine for the kendu leaf pickers in the area.
The two page printed posters were found on the road block spot.
The ultras also warned police informers and the Maoists who had recently surrendered before the police.
A senior police officer said the genuineness of the posters were being verified.
