Bhubaneswar, December 12 (LocalWire): The left-wing extremists (LWEs) in Malkangiri district have warned the locals living in Swabhiman areas not to use mobile phones.
The fresh round of warning from the Maoist group has left the locals in panic.
According to sources issuing its latest diktat, the outlawed Maoists outfit has put up posters at various places warning people to discard the use of mobile phones or face dire consequences at the Maoists-operated Praja Courts.
“We have received reports of such warning being sounded by red rebels in Arapadar village and some other parts of Swabhiban area.
There is no cause of worry for people as police and security forces are on the job 24×7 to weed out the Maoists from their hideouts,” Malkangiri superintendent of police Khilari Rishikesh Dnyandeo told the LocalWire.
“This sort of intimidating tactic by suspected LWEs is a clear indicator that they are on the run.
It’s an act of desperation on part of the Maoists,” he said, calling upon the local people not to bow to their diktat.
“The bridge over river Gurupriya has restored connectivity of the cutoff villages with the mainland.
With the security forces keeping a tab on the anti-Maoist operation, the improved connectivity has led to a decrease in violence in the region,” he stated.
