Malkangiri, March 13 (LocalWire): Maoists rebels have killed a relative of a road construction contractor at Kukurkunda village of Malkangiri district, a media report said on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as work supervisor Gupta Swain.
A group of Maoists rebels slit Swain’s throat after mercilessly thrashing him in the village, the report said, citing people privy of the development.
The insurgents then attacked other laborers present at the spot, and torched a JCB and a Hywa truck engaged in road construction from Kukurkunda to Temrupali.
Before fleeing the site, Maoists left posters warning against public works in the area.
Meanwhile, police have begun a probe.
In another incident, Maoists rebels torched a road-roller engaged in construction work at Sanramloi village under Bisra tehsil of Sundargarh district.
Police later recovered a letter, which they left behind, warning the road contractor to stop work.
