Baripada, September 21 (LocalWire): Mayurbhanj district administration will intensify COVID testing, district collector Vineet Bhardwaj said, after locals alleged on Monday that not enough testing is being done at Pandit Raghunath Murmu Government Medical College and Hospital.
“Testing at PRM MCH has been reduced as there is fear of the spread of infection to other patients at the hospital.
Another COVID test centre has been set up at Debendrapur where people can avail testing facility at their demand. More test centres shall be opened to provide smooth testing,” said the collector.
Sources alleged that the district administration is not taking any steps to curb the number of cases, which increases every day.
A doctor spoke under condition of anonymity, informing that the hospital superintendent B N Mohapatra had been instructed by officials to allow only the doctors and staff of the hospital to undergo COVID test.
When the people met the Chief District Medical Officer Rupavanoo Mishra and Additional Medical Officer NR Das in this regard, both authorities advised them to meet B N Mohapatra, the hospital superintendent, who had taken all the charge of COVID management.
Dukha Sing of Kuliana, Harish Mohanta of Rangamatia areas in Bangiriposi constituency and many people from rural and Baripada municipality areas who rushed to the PRM MCH for COVID test stated that they were returned without testing.
As per the official report, 6588 positive cases have been recorded in the district up until now.
