Bhubaneswar, December 10 (LocalWire): People from a cross-section of society today underscored the need for sensitization of male folks in general and young and teenage boys, in particular, to put brakes on the recent spurt in violence against minor girls and women.
The gender violence could only be curbed if the men are sensitized. They are the perpetrators of the crime.
So it’s high time to inculcate sensitivity among the males to thwart the recurrence of crimes like sexual assault on women, observed senior journalist Ashok Pradhan while taking part in an awareness campaign organized by the Centre for Child and Women Development (CCWD) and Bhubaneswar Young Urban women forum.
The campaign to fight against social malady of this nature has always been gender-centric. Awareness programmes take place and women and girls’ participation are sought for.
It’s high time now remodel the campaign by roping in men only. The campaign should be aptly coined as “I am not a rapist’.
Unless males give up beastly instinct, the World can never be safer, livable place for young women and girls, he added.
