Bhubaneswar, Nov 21 (LocalWire) With 14th edition of Men’s Hockey World Cup all set to begin next week, Team Argentina arrived in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.
They were given a grand welcome at the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA), said officials.
Meanwhile, Team South Africa is expected to arrive in the city Wednesday evening.
Security has been beefed up across the capital to ensure safety of the foreign players and guests.
The 14th edition of Men’s Hockey World Cup is scheduled to be held from Nov 28 to Dec 16 at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar.
The opening ceremony will be held on Nov 27 at Kalinga Stadium, while the World Cup Celebrations event will take place at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on Nov 28.
Governing body Hockey India announced sales of tickets, priced at Rs. 500 each, for both the events began at 12 noon on Tuesday at www.ticketgenie.in. However, the website crashed due to heavy traffic and remained down for hours, leaving fans disappointed.
Music maestro AR Rahman will be performing at both the events. Several Bollywood celebrities, including superstar Shah Rukh Khan are expected to perform at the opening ceremony on Nov 27, while “Baahubali” fame actor Prabhas might entertain Odisha on Nov 28. .
Around 10,500 tickets to the opening ceremony in Bhubaneswar have been put on sale, while 30,000 tickets are there the Rahman event in Cuittack.
