Berhampur, Nov 28 (LocalWire) An artist in Silk City has made a miniature replica of the Men’s Hockey World Cup (HWC) trophy in the soap.
Satya Narayan Maharana also made a sand-art near the office of divisional forest office (DFO) here to wish success to the Indian Hockey team who will clash with the South Africa on Wednesday evening.
Satya Narayan Maharana made a two-and-a-half inch trophy out of a soap bar.
He displayed his art at his workshop near municipality town hall for public view.
“I have taken at least two hours to carve the replica of trophy in the soap. The trophy along with the hockey stick was curved in one soap,” said 34-year-old Maharana.
He is a World Record holder for creating different models of the various personalities and miniature chariots of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra.
Maharana said his main aim is to create awareness among youngsters about the sports in general and hockey in particular.
His sand-art was also appreciated by MLA (Berhampur) R.Ch, Chaupatnaik, Berhampur Development Authority (BeDA) chairman Subash Moharana and DFO (Berhampur) AK Behera.
“I have taken about an hour to make the sand-art,” he said.
Earlier, Hara Govinda Moharan, another artist in the city, made a model of the hockey ground in Kalinga stadium using several grains. The model of around two-foot radius and weighing about 5 kg, has also a wax figure of Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik.
